Your Impact The Regional Lending Advisor (RLA), Managing Director is a senior leadership role responsible for driving regional lending strategy, revenue growth, and platform development across a UHNW client base. This individual serves as the lead credit strategist and commercial owner of the lending business in-region, partnering closely with Private Wealth Advisors (PWAs), underwriting, risk, and senior AWM leadership. As a Managing Director, the RLA not only originates and structures complex lending transactions, but also leads, develops, and scales a high-performing team of lending professionals, ensuring consistent delivery of best-in-class client solutions, disciplined risk management, and a strong control environment. This role is a critical member of regional leadership, shaping strategic priorities, influencing product evolution, and reinforcing Goldman Sachs’ position as a trusted advisor to UHNW clients. Key Responsibilities Regional Leadership & Business Strategy Define and execute the regional lending strategy, aligned with firmwide priorities and growth objectives. Own regional lending performance, including pipeline generation, revenue delivery, and portfolio quality. Serve as a senior representative of the Private Bank lending platform with internal stakeholders and external clients. Identify market trends, client needs, and competitive dynamics to inform product innovation and strategic positioning. Team Leadership & Talent Development Lead, mentor, and develop a team of RLAs and lending professionals, fostering a high-performance, client-centric culture. Set clear expectations around origination, execution excellence, risk discipline, and collaboration. Drive talent strategy, including hiring, coaching, and succession planning to build a scalable and sustainable platform. Promote a strong culture of accountability, integrity, and partnership across teams. Client & Advisor Partnership Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior PWAs and key clients, positioning as a strategic advisor on complex financing needs. Partner with advisors in client and prospect engagements to identify, shape, and win sophisticated lending opportunities. Provide expert guidance on tailored lending strategies across securities-based lending, structured credit, real estate, and specialty asset financing. Origination & Credit Structuring Lead the origination and structuring of complex, bespoke lending transactions, ensuring alignment with client objectives and firm risk appetite. Act as the senior credit thought partner, bringing creativity and discipline to structuring solutions. Oversee transaction execution, ensuring high-quality credit proposals and efficient deal progression in partnership with underwriting. Risk & Control Leadership Maintain ultimate accountability for portfolio health and risk oversight within the region. Proactively identify emerging risks and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented. Reinforce a strong first line of defense mindset, ensuring adherence to credit policies, regulatory standards, and control frameworks (including KYC/AML). Partner closely with Risk and Underwriting leadership to uphold disciplined credit governance. Qualifications 12+ years of experience in UHNW lending, private banking, or commercial banking, with a proven track record of leading lending businesses and teams. Deep expertise structuring complex transactions across commercial real estate, securities-based lending, alternatives, and privately held assets. Demonstrated ability to operate at a strategic level, influencing senior stakeholders and driving business outcomes. Strong leadership capabilities, with experience building, managing, and developing high-performing teams. Exceptional credit judgment, commercial acumen, and ability to balance growth with risk discipline. Outstanding communication and executive presence, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, advisors, and senior leadership. Highly collaborative, with a track record of driving results across matrixed organizations. Series 7, 63, and SIE required (or must be obtained within 4 months). Salary Range The expected base salary for this New York, NY, United States-based position is $300000-$400000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
