JOB SUMMARY
In order to meet the overall mission of the Trust the post holder will
Assess, develop, implement and evaluate patient / client care, under the guidance of the line manager.
Carry out all relevant forms of care and will be required to supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff.
Participate in the development and review of service and professional standards.
Participate in the delivery of immunisation programmes within child health.
Assist in the delivery of a family centred public health service under the guidance of the public health teams.
Work with children, families, schools and communities to achieve optimum health and well being for all children, young people and the wider community. This will be achieved through health promotion, health protection and building relationships with families and schools.
Practice according to the Regional Area Child Protection Committee’s Regional Policy and Procedures and Trust policy and procedures in relation to child protection.
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide person centred nursing to ensure continuity of care within agreed standards
Carry out evidence based practice and agreed care pathways
Assist and deliver the immunisation programmes within child health
Monitor and report on client progress and maintain contemporaneous records
Perform enhanced functions within the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) code of practice
Make decisions based on professional knowledge and experience
Maintain professional standards of practice and contribute to continuous quality improvement
Adhere to DHSSPNI and NMC guidelines for safe handling, administration, storage and custody of medicinal products
Participate in uni-professional / multi professional audit and research as required
Promote health & well-being
Ensure the provision of an integrated quality service by maintaining effective communication with the multi-disciplinary team and community services
Maintain good communication with patients/clients and relatives/carers ensuring that their individual needs are met, and report issues to the line manager as required
GENERAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
