Remote | Excel & Google Sheets Specialist — $70–$140/hour

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced professionals with strong spreadsheet skills in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, combined with analytical judgement and professional document-review experience.

This role focuses on reviewing and evaluating spreadsheet-based work products and related professional materials for quality, accuracy, relevance, usability, and consistency. Selected professionals will assess spreadsheet logic, calculations, data presentation, supporting documents, and related deliverables while providing clear, structured feedback.

Key Responsibilities

Spreadsheet Review & Evaluation

  • Review Excel and Google Sheets workbooks for accuracy, completeness, and professional quality
  • Assess spreadsheet structure, organisation, and usability
  • Identify inconsistencies, missing information, calculation issues, or formatting problems
  • Evaluate whether spreadsheet outputs appropriately support stated conclusions
  • Apply structured quality criteria consistently across assignments

Formula & Calculation Review

  • Review formulas, calculations, references, and spreadsheet logic
  • Identify broken formulas, incorrect references, inconsistent calculations, or unsupported outputs
  • Assess relationships between inputs, calculations, and results
  • Evaluate whether quantitative information is presented accurately
  • Apply strong attention to detail when reviewing complex spreadsheet work

Data Quality & Consistency

  • Review spreadsheet data for completeness and internal consistency
  • Identify duplicated, missing, conflicting, or incorrectly formatted information
  • Assess whether data is organised appropriately for its intended purpose
  • Check consistency across worksheets, tables, and supporting materials
  • Evaluate clarity and reliability of spreadsheet-based outputs

Spreadsheet Presentation & Usability

  • Assess workbook layout, tables, labels, formatting, and visual organisation
  • Identify presentation issues that reduce readability or usability
  • Review charts and visual summaries where relevant
  • Evaluate whether important information is communicated clearly
  • Assess overall professional quality of spreadsheet deliverables

Document & Presentation Review

  • Review related documents and presentation materials for accuracy and consistency
  • Assess whether figures and conclusions align with underlying spreadsheet information
  • Identify discrepancies across spreadsheets, documents, and slides
  • Evaluate organisation, clarity, and presentation quality
  • Review supporting materials against defined project guidelines

Cross-Domain Evaluation

  • Work with materials spanning a variety of consumer-facing, personal, analytical, and professional domains
  • Adapt quickly to different subjects and assignment requirements
  • Apply analytical judgement alongside structured evaluation criteria
  • Identify substantive quality issues even when reviewing unfamiliar subject areas
  • Maintain consistency across varied evaluation tasks

Structured Feedback

  • Provide clear, concise, and actionable written feedback
  • Explain spreadsheet, analytical, content, and presentation issues precisely
  • Distinguish material errors from minor formatting concerns
  • Support evaluation decisions with logical reasoning

Ideal Profile

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • At least 3+ years of professional experience in a relevant analytical, spreadsheet-intensive, or business domain
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Strong spreadsheet analysis and review skills
  • Strong analytical and written communication abilities
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow structured guidelines
  • Experience reviewing professional documents and quantitative work products
  • Familiarity with Microsoft/Google Docs and presentation tools is advantageous
  • Proficiency in English
  • Comfortable working independently across varied subject areas
