Women’s Football Alliance (WFA)

Location: Canton, OH (Hall of Fame Village Headquarters)

Position Overview The Vice President of Business Development will lead strategic growth initiatives for the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) across partnerships, flag football expansion, licensing, retail operations, media, and revenue generation. This executive leadership role is responsible for driving national and international growth while positioning the WFA as the premier women’s football league in the world.

The ideal candidate is a visionary and operational leader with experience in sports business, sponsorships, merchandising, event development, and brand expansion. This position will oversee the development of scalable business opportunities that increase league visibility, fan engagement, participation, and long-term revenue.

Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Partnerships

  • Develop and execute comprehensive business growth strategies for the WFA
  • Secure national and global corporate partnerships, sponsorships, and strategic alliances
  • Lead negotiations for high-value sponsorship, licensing, and media agreements
  • Build integrated partnership packages across broadcast, digital, events, retail, and grassroots initiatives
  • Manage and expand relationships with sponsors, investors, media partners, and key stakeholders
Flag Football Operations & Growth
  • Oversee the development and expansion of the WFA National Flag League and competitive framework
  • Manage the WFA Pro Flag National Tour and National Championship qualification system
  • Develop partnerships with schools, organizations, and governing bodies to increase participation nationwide
  • Support international expansion initiatives for women’s flag football
  • Standardize branding, competition rules, and operational guidelines across affiliated flag programs
Licensing & Retail
  • Lead all WFA licensing agreements, merchandise partnerships, and retail initiatives
  • Oversee WFA retail storefront operations at the Hall of Fame Village headquarters and online platforms
  • Drive product development for WFA-branded tackle and flag football apparel, equipment, and merchandise
  • Identify new licensing and distribution opportunities domestically and internationally
  • Ensure brand consistency across all products and partner activations
  • Monitor inventory management, sales performance, and revenue growth strategies
Events & Media
  • Oversee national events including championships, showcases, camps, clinics, and fan experiences
  • Collaborate with marketing and media teams to maximize exposure and partner ROI
  • Support media, broadcast, and distribution relationships across television and streaming platforms
  • Assist in creating innovative fan engagement and revenue-generating initiatives
Leadership & Strategy
  • Track participation metrics, growth benchmarks, and business performance analytics
  • Work cross-functionally with league leadership, operations, marketing, media, and team owners
  • Help position the WFA alongside major professional sports properties through strategic growth initiatives
  • Lead long-term planning initiatives focused on league sustainability and expansion
Qualifications
  • 7–10+ years of experience in sports business, partnerships, sponsorships, retail, licensing, or business development
  • Proven success in driving revenue growth and scaling sports or entertainment properties
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience managing partnerships, events, and operational initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and execute strategic initiatives
  • Strong understanding of media rights, sponsorship valuation, and brand integration
  • Highly organized with strong leadership and operational execution abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with professional sports leagues or emerging sports properties
  • Existing network within sports, media, retail, or corporate partnership sectors
  • Background in football, women’s sports, or amateur sports development
  • Experience with retail distribution, merchandising, or e-commerce operations
